Audiences

A campaign’s audience is a Shopify Customer Segment. WhatPro takes the segment you pick, then filters it down to the customers who are actually eligible to receive a WhatsApp marketing broadcast.

On the Create Campaign form, the Customer segment picker offers:

  • All customers — every customer in your store, paged through and filtered.
  • Any Shopify Customer Segment you’ve created in Shopify Admin under Customers → Segments.

If no segments appear in the picker, create one in Shopify Admin first, or pick All customers.

Picking a segment does not mean everyone in it gets a message. At launch, WhatPro filters the segment members down to eligible recipients. A customer must meet all of these conditions:

Has a usable phone numberThe customer has a phone number that normalizes to a valid international format.
Not blockedThe phone number is not on your store’s blocked list.
Not a duplicateIf two customer records share a phone number, only one message is sent.

After you pick a segment, WhatPro shows an approximate customer count, for example:

≈ 1,200 customers in this segment — the WhatsApp opt-in filter still applies at send time.

This number is the raw segment size, not the final recipient count. Because the opt-in, phone-validity, blocked-list, and de-duplication filters run at launch, the actual number of messages sent is usually lower. If the segment has no opted-in customers, the launch is blocked with a message explaining that recipients need the WhatsApp subscriber tag.

The number of eligible recipients is also subject to your plan’s per-campaign cap:

  • Growth — up to 250 recipients per campaign.
  • Plus — unlimited.

If a segment resolves to more eligible recipients than your plan allows, the launch is blocked with a prompt to upgrade. See /campaigns/limits/ and /plans/overview/.

Customers who have replied STOP to a marketing message are excluded from every future campaign automatically, regardless of segment. See /campaigns/opt-outs/.
